George Mason (rugby league)

George Mason (d 1996) was a rugby league football player, and later coach, for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs club.
A Canterbury local junior, Mason played three seasons for Western Suburbs Magpies between 1927-1929. He then spent a number of years captain-coaching in rural N.S.W. at Barmedman and at Central Newcastle before returning to Sydney. His final year as a player was 1936 at the relatively new Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. He coached the side the following year, prior to Jim Craig. 〔http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org〕 He is recognized as the Bulldogs 41st ever player and their third ever coach. George Henry Mason died on 5 February 1996. 〔http://www.thebulldogs.com.au/sportal.php?page=coach&id=3〕
